Sailor Soccer Club Frequently Asked Questions

What does my child need?

All players are required to have shin guards at games and practices

 

Additional recommended gear:

  •  soccer ball

  •  soccer cleats (tennis shoes are allowed, but cleats with a toe are not including baseball, softball, and football)

  •  water bottle

Is the uniform kit required?

Yes! If your player is playing U9 and up and does not have one, they need the Uniform Kit. A link will be sent from Capelli Sports to order the kit. Numbers are assigned at random and cannot be chosen

What size ball should I get?

U6 & U8 - Size 3

U9 & U11 - Size 4

U12 & up - Size 5

What are the costs?

U6 - U8 | $70 per player

U9 + | $80 per player

Uniform kit for U9+ | $35

What are included in my costs?

Things that are included in your costs include practices 1-2x a week, 6 games, referee fees, field maintenance (paint, goals, nets, corner flags, mowing), insurance, and administrative fees.

 

U13 & up players get six regular season games through Great Lakes Coed Soccer League.

 

U6 and U8 players get a t-shirt included with their registration.

When are games?

Games are typically on Saturday mornings to mid-afternoon. Due to the volume of teams, some games do start later in the day on Saturdays and/or may be played on a weeknight or Sunday occasionally.

Who schedules the games?

For U6 & U8, Sailor Soccer Club does the scheduling.

For U9 & up, Great Lakes Coed Soccer League does the scheduling.

I need a certain day/time for practice:

Unfortunately, we cannot accomodate requestes for specific day/times for practices. Coaches are able to pick their preference on days and times for practice, so we highly recommend volunteering to coach if you need a specific time or day for practice.

Where are practices?

Practices are held at the soccer fields at Ross Park Elementary.

Where are games?

U6 & U8 games are at Ross Park Elementary.

 

Home games for U9 and up are at Ross Park Elementary.

Away games for U9 and up are at various other club's fields. Go to glcsoccer.org and select fields for driving directions.

Who can play for Sailor Soccer Club?

We accept players from any school district and homeschooled players between the ages of 4 and 19.

When does the season start?

The first games of the spring season are April 15th for the Spring 2023 season and September 9th for the Fall 2023 season. Practices usually starting 1-2 weeks prior depending on the coach.

When are practices?

Practices are typically held one to two days a week between Monday through Thursday. The day and time your team practices is determined by your coach's availability and field availability. 

What level will my child play?

Players are put into their age divisions based on their birth year. A player can play up an age division but cannot play down. The birth year chart can be found on the 'Our Teams' tab.

Can I make a team request?

Yes, you can request your child to play for a certain coach or with another player. However, requests are NOT guaranteed. We take into consideration all requests, but cannot promise that your request will be granted.
